MM: Can you tell us about your Band and whos your biggest influences
Our band, the Non Talkers, is a Pop-Folk duo from Portugal, formed by myself, Marco, and my
wife, Evita. Our music is deeply rooted in our personal experiences and emotions, blending
pop sensibility with folk depth. Our biggest influences are varied and eclectic, ranging from
classic icons like U2, The Beatles, and Bob Dylan, to contemporary artists like Lewis Capaldi,
The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons. These influences shape our sound, giving it a unique
blend of timeless appeal and modern sensibility.
MM: Where do you draw your inspirations and ideas from
Our inspirations and ideas come from a variety of sources. Life experiences play a
significant role; we often draw from our own emotions, relationships, and observations of
the world around us. Additionally, were inspired by other artists and genres, which bring
new perspectives and ideas into our music. Our creative process involves blending these
diverse influences into songs that speak both to us and to our listeners.
MM: What would you say is your Bands favourite song ?
As the Non Talkers, its challenging to pinpoint just one song as our favorite, as each track
holds a special place for us. However, if we had to choose, it might be one of the deeply
personal songs from our album "Roots." This album reflects our journey and growth, both as
individuals and as a band. Each song on this album resonates with our experiences and
emotions, making them all meaningful in different ways.
MM: Plans tour and festival wise for 2024
For 2024, our plans are centered around expanding our tour to include more locations, both
nationally and internationally. Were also looking into participating in various festivals, which
would give us the opportunity to connect with a wider audience and share our music with
different communities. Our goal is to bring the Roots to new stages, continuing to share
our stories and songs with as many people as possible. Keep an eye on our social media and
website for upcoming tour dates and festival announcements!
MM: What can we expect from Non Talkers live?
At a Non Talkers live show, you can expect an intimate and emotionally charged experience.
Our performances are known for their heartfelt connection with the audience, blending our
personal stories into the music. We bring a mix of our popular songs and some lesser-known
tracks, ensuring a dynamic and engaging set. The atmosphere is usually one of shared
emotions and experiences, making each concert unique. Our aim is to make each live show
not just a musical event, but a memorable journey for us and our audience.
MM: What do you like best and worst about touring?
The best part about touring for us is the opportunity to connect with our audience in person.
There's a unique energy and intimacy in live performances thats truly irreplaceable. We love
the experience of sharing our music and seeing its impact on listeners firsthand.
On the other hand, the most challenging aspect can be the physical and mental demands of
being on the road. Touring can be exhausting, with long travel times and the need to constantly
adapt to new environments. However, the joy and fulfillment we get from performing make it all
worthwhile.
MM: Which three Bands would be your ultimate touring buddies?
For our ultimate touring buddies, wed love to tour with artists who share a similar musical
ethos and passion. First would be U2, as their legendary status and powerful live
performances are incredibly inspiring. Next, sharing the stage with Fleet Foxes would be a
dream, given their profound influence on the indie folk scene. Lastly, touring with a band like
The Lumineers would be amazing, as their folk-rock style aligns closely with our own, and the
energy they bring to their shows is something we deeply admire.
MM: Whats the most memorable concert youve been to (other than your own) and
why?
The most memorable concert been to was a U2 show. Their performance was not
just a musical experience but a visual spectacle as well. The way they connected with the
audience and the energy in the stadium were extraordinary. Their music has always been
an inspiration to us, and seeing them live, experiencing the passion and excellence they
bring to their performances, really left a lasting impression. It was a concert that went
beyond just entertainment; it was truly inspirational.
MM: Which are your Two favourite Albums of all time?
Our biggest accomplishment so far has been the successful release and reception of our
album This album represents not just our musical evolution, but also our personal
growth. Receiving recognition for this project, particularly winning the Rootstock Festival and
being acknowledged by Blue Rhymez Entertainment, has been incredibly rewarding. These
achievements validate our efforts and passion, and inspire us to continue creating music that
resonates with our audience.
MM: Can you remember the first time you ever played live and how it felt to have people
watching you?
The first time we played live, the feeling was a mix of exhilaration and nerves. Having people
watch and react to our music was both daunting and incredibly exciting. It was a pivotal
moment where we felt the direct impact of our music on an audience. The energy exchange
between us and the crowd was palpable, and it solidified our love for performing live. It's an
experience that has stayed with us and continues to motivate us in our musical journey.
MM: Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other
person?
Honestly, neither I, Marco, nor Evita had band posters on our bedroom walls when we were
young. It just wasnt our kind of thing. Our musical influences came more from listening to
music and experiencing it in other ways, rather than from idolizing bands through posters.
MM: Who do you think influenced the world of Metal / Rock more than any other
person?
In the world of Metal/Rock, its challenging to pinpoint just one person who influenced the
genre the most, as it has been shaped by numerous legendary artists over the years. Icons
like Jimi Hendrix, with his groundbreaking guitar techniques, and bands like Led Zeppelin and
Black Sabbath, who were pivotal in the development of heavy metal, have had profound
impacts. Additionally, figures like Ozzy Osbourne and Metallica have also significantly
influenced the evolution of metal and rock music, each in their own unique ways.
MM Whats the most important thing to the band right now?
The most important thing to us right now is connecting with our audience through our music.
As we continue to share our latest album our focus is on reaching as many listeners
as possible and creating meaningful experiences through our live performances. We;re also
dedicated to evolving as artists, exploring new musical ideas, and maintaining the authenticity
that defines our sound.
MM: If you could do a cover of any song which one would it be and why?
We really enjoy covering songs that resonate with us. Evita particularly loves performing
Somebody to Love by the Bee Gees, and I, Marco, have a fondness for covering by
the Lumineers. These songs connect with us on a personal level and allow us to bring our own
interpretation to music we admire.
MM: Tell us why we should buy and listen to your Band
You should listen to our band, the Non Talkers, because our music is a heartfelt blend of pop
and folk, infused with genuine emotion and storytelling. Our songs, drawn from our personal
experiences, resonate with listeners on a deep level. We aim to create a unique and intimate
musical experience, inviting you into our world. By listening to our music, youre not just
hearing songs; youre experiencing pieces of our lives and emotions. If youre looking for
authenticity and emotional depth in music, our band is a perfect choice.
